Beautiful and rare pair of “Junior” armchairs designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro, manufactured by Haimi in Finland during the mid–1960s. Swivel chairs, made from fiberglass with enameled white steel base. Seats are covered with original leather upholstery. Best known for his chairs…most famous is an easy chair called Karuselli (‘Carousel’) from 1964 which is included in the permanent collection of major museums including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Nominated as the most comfortable chair in the world by The New York Times in 1974. Priced per pair, two sets avaialble. Finland, 1960’s.
