Oak Desk by Gilbert Pelletier, France, 1930’s
Finely crafted solid oak desk with exposed joinery in simple waterfall form attributed to French craftsman Gilbert Pelletier. Known best for his partnerships with early modernists Adolphe Chanaux and Jean-Michel Frank, Pelletier made sublimely simple modern furnishings, primarily in the 1920’s and 30’s. This desk was retrieved from a French estate with a matching oak framed mirror above it. The mirror has the Pelletier mark. The style and oak are identical.
