Landscape by Ugo Attardi (1923-2006), Italy, 1950’s

Oil on canvas landscape by respected Italian artist, Ugo Atardi (1923-2006). This is an early piece, 1950’s, as he was exploring expressionist painting. Atardi was a painter, sculptor and writer who’s long and influential career included international exhibitions in Milan, Rome, London, and NY and a presence in museums throughout Europe. His sculpture of Ulysses is permanently installed in Battery Park, NY. In 2003 Italy recognized his body of work with the Cultural Prize in the Arts and in 2006 he also received, by President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the title of Grand Officer of the Republic, for his artistic merits and for having spread and promote worldwide the Italian genius and creativity.
